Senior sessions are always so much fun because I know what a cool point in life they’re at. You’re just completing high school and thinking about the future. College classes and campus maps fill your brain and excitement is at it’s peak. These are the milestones in our lives that deserve to be captured. I think another reason I love shooting with seniors is because I’m not a fan of my senior portraits at all! Besides the fact that going into my senior year I was still embracing the late 90’s bleached tips trend (no, not frosted tips. I’m talking Sugar Ray lead singer Mark McGrath bleached tips), I did the same old in-studio portraits that everyone does and looking back can’t help, but laugh at those pictures. Needless to say, I love being able to create artistic images that they’re going to look back at in 10 years and still be stoked on their senior sessions!
Meet Kelly. Graduation from Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, Kelly wants more than anything to become a veterinarian. As you’ll see by some of the pictures that follow, she’s an animal lover. Her best friend, Frankie (her pooch), got in on our session as well as two of her bipedal friends Meagan and Alexis! We shot the first half of Kelly’s session in Solana Beach and the second half on the beaches of Del Mar. The shoot was hilariously fun, and there was even a Frankie escape moment on the beach! Watching Kelly chase her friend Frankie down the beach was definitely one of the funnier moments of the shoot (no, I didn’t post those pictures. You’re welcome Kelly ;). Enjoy!

FRANKIE!!!! How awesome is it that Kelly wanted her buddy included in her shoot?!!! This little guy was a ton of fun to shoot with!

Meagan and Alexis were awesome to jump in on a few shots with Kelly! Love this pic of them walking down Cedros Ave. together.

If I could only figure out how to always get birds to cooperate so well…
