David Manning Photographers Bloggin bio picture

Welcome to dmp bloggin!

I'm a big believer in living life to it's fullest and for the most part, you'll find a smile on my face!  That's the short story about me.  The long story includes a passion for photography, playing my guitar, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, hockey, mountain biking, skydiving and more!

I like good coffee in the morning, and good wine at night.  Cooking combines three of my favorite things, creativity, food, and friends. So you can often times find me in the kitchen making an Italian family recipe.  You're welcome at my house anytime!  Just bring a smile, an appetite, and if you want to score big points, a bottle of red wine!  (Oh, and don't be afraid to have your picture taken.  If you're here, it's bound to happen!)

All of these activities are amazing, but they would not be nearly as fun or possible at all if it weren't for God, my family, and my friends.  These three are the most important to me, and I cannot thank them enough for supporting me on this amazing journey!

THE DMP CHRISTMAS TREE :: PICKIN' AND TRIMMIN' AND GIVIN' 2009

It is currently December 21st and I am officially DONE with my Christmas shopping!  I’m super excited for Christmas and am really terrible about not giving gifts early.  As soon as I pickup a gift for someone, I just want to give it to them right away!  That’s my excuse for shopping so close to Christmas ;)  It’s a good one, right?  Today, I wanted to share with you a better shot of our Christmas tree and the adventure that went with picking it out!

Of course, before we went tree huntin’ we had to so some cafe sippin’!

We started our hunt at the nursery down the street.  They always have a bunch of great trees to choose from, and the prices aren’t terrible.  I’m not a fan of the pre-wrapped trees you can pickup at Walmart or Home Depot.  I think trees that are fresh cut always do better!

There were a TON of trees there, but we couldn’t find the one right for us…

So we left the nursery and headed down the way to the Pinery Christmas Tree farm.  I’m not kidding you, EVERY tree was amazing!  Here’s a shot of James checking out a tree… well, I don’t know exactly what he’s doing, but it does seem to be effective.  The tree that we brought home is incredible!  I’m always shocked at Christmas tree prices, but again, it’s one of the most important items amongst the holiday traditions.

It always cracks me up to get a tree strapped down on my car!

I think I’m going to send this to Brecht BMW as next year’s Christmas card!

Then the really fun part happens, TRIMMIN’ THE TREE!  I love watching the tree go from barren green to decked out in ornaments!

Here’s a few of the ornaments that are hangin’ on our tree limbs.  Check out the sweet one for Rome!

And finally, the star topper!  I think this is my favorite star topper I’ve ever put upon a Christmas tree!  It lights up too, so when just the tree is lit, it puts star shapes all over the room!

Okay, now for something fun.  I really want to do a blog about different people’s Christmas trees and have a little competition for whose is BEST/MOST CREATIVE/MOST HUMOROUS!  Any of those qualities could make you the winner! Soooo, take a picture of your Christmas tree and email it to me before December 27th!  I’m going to post all the tree pics on the 28th and a winner will be announced on the 29th!  What does the winner get?  *drum roll please*

A $25 STARBUCKS CARD!!!
