David Manning Photographers Bloggin bio picture

Welcome to dmp bloggin!

I'm a big believer in living life to it's fullest and for the most part, you'll find a smile on my face!  That's the short story about me.  The long story includes a passion for photography, playing my guitar, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, hockey, mountain biking, skydiving and more!

I like good coffee in the morning, and good wine at night.  Cooking combines three of my favorite things, creativity, food, and friends. So you can often times find me in the kitchen making an Italian family recipe.  You're welcome at my house anytime!  Just bring a smile, an appetite, and if you want to score big points, a bottle of red wine!  (Oh, and don't be afraid to have your picture taken.  If you're here, it's bound to happen!)

All of these activities are amazing, but they would not be nearly as fun or possible at all if it weren't for God, my family, and my friends.  These three are the most important to me, and I cannot thank them enough for supporting me on this amazing journey!

SHOOTIN' SHIT :: PART 1 (pics)

I have a great group of guys that I hang out with.  Normally, we surf waves, bomb down hills on our skateboards, play a little guitar, or come up with random things that end up hurting each other in hilarious ways.  Well, Wednesday, we had a lot of fun in a little place called Ramona, CA.  Ramona is getting to “The Hills” of San Diego and they actually have a mountain out there that you off-road up, park, and can shoot whatever you want, with whatever you want!

So we piled into Ryan’s Range Rover, packed in Drew’s guns and ammo, found anything we could to shoot, and headed up the hill to Ramona.  Blasting country music as we drove the long dirt road up the hill prepared us to get a little gritty.  Here’s Ryan, very excited to shoot!

We had a TON of clay pigeons that Drew picked up.  Two boxes of 90 went very quickly!

Before Zogby arrived, we didn’t have the pigeon slinger, so we just frisbee threw them as hard as we could.  Worked splendidly!

Sweet action shot of Paul pullin’ for Drew.

This was Paul’s first time shooting a gun and he picked it up so quick!  At one point he knocked down 4/5 clays!

Good thing we had Ryan’s sweet Rover, because the trip up was pretty crazy!

Okay, the rest of us are all just a bunch of guys going to shoot the crap out of anything with shotguns, but Zogby… he’s serious.  When Zogby and his dad (also a Zogby) pulled in, they unloaded a couple of sweet game shotguns and a couple of INCREDIBLE 30-06 rifles!  They meant business!

Ryan’s BA shot in front of his Rover with Drew’s 12 gauge pump action shotgun!

Uh, yeah…  Makes me feel like kind of a bad ass… (ps- Vito is my nickname in the group.  It’s an Italian thing.)

Ryan fully looked the part of “Ramona Good Ol’ Boy” with his John Deere camo hat and bandana!

But it’s Drew that ultimately took the prize for “most natural holding a shootgun”.  Really, if you saw this dude coming, wouldn’t you run like hell?!  Well you should, because this dude has a SHOTGUN, and he knows how to use it.  Nor is he afraid to use it!

And finally, there was Paul, who before Wednesday had never shot a gun before.  Like I said, he picked it up like a champ and was blastin’ skeet in no time!  His man-ness was stepped up a level afterwards.  His voice dropped and a few new chest hairs sprouted.

This is Zogby’s dad shooting the 30-06 long range.  These two are pros!

I don’t think there’s really anything to say about this awesome looking picture.  Well, except that I’m going to have to punch Paul in the neck for aiming his gun at my camera!

If any of you are shooters out there, let me know and we can make a bigger group for next time!  This is definitely happening again!!!  Stay tuned for Part 2 and the VIDEO from my 5D Mark II.
