David Manning Photographers Bloggin bio picture

Welcome to dmp bloggin!

I'm a big believer in living life to it's fullest and for the most part, you'll find a smile on my face!  That's the short story about me.  The long story includes a passion for photography, playing my guitar, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, hockey, mountain biking, skydiving and more!

I like good coffee in the morning, and good wine at night.  Cooking combines three of my favorite things, creativity, food, and friends. So you can often times find me in the kitchen making an Italian family recipe.  You're welcome at my house anytime!  Just bring a smile, an appetite, and if you want to score big points, a bottle of red wine!  (Oh, and don't be afraid to have your picture taken.  If you're here, it's bound to happen!)

All of these activities are amazing, but they would not be nearly as fun or possible at all if it weren't for God, my family, and my friends.  These three are the most important to me, and I cannot thank them enough for supporting me on this amazing journey!

A WICKED FOUR YEARS

Wednesday was a pretty big milestone for me. Four years ago, my girlfriend Whitney and I went on our first date! For some reason three years didn’t feel like such a huge milestone, but four years feels different. It feels like a LOT of time. We know each other so well that beating us at Cranium is near impossible. I’m not kidding, we’re undefeated because while I’m a pretty good artist in that game, Whitney is the ultimate guesser! One time, I had “baptism” that I had to act out with silent clues. They flipped the timer, I made the sign of the cross first, and she yelled, “BAPTISM!” Even I was a little creeped out!

So to celebrate our four years together we spent the whole day together. First we went up to Starbucks and got our usual (grande iced coffees with sugar free vanilla and some soy milk for Whitney). Then we took Rome, our pooch, for a hike. We went over the newly built bridge over Lake Hodges and down the trail to the left. Well it was hot, and there was zero shade along the path. So being a Boston Terrier and completely a wuss bag in the heat, Rome was getting tired. HOT and tired. To preface, Rome is not a big water dog. At the beach he likes to run in ankle deep water then when a wave comes sprint for the shore! So when we arrived at the little creek that winds down from the mountains, under some shady trees, and into Lake Hodges, we just planned for a rest before heading back. Rome had other plans. First he lay down under a shady tree in the dirt. Then he looked at the creek to his left and BOOKED it straight for the water! We grabbed the camera in amazement at Rome’s newfound love of the water and shot a little vid!

So after that hilariousness, we headed home with our muddy dog and got cleaned up for the exciting night ahead! We had been anticipating this night for a long time and it did not disappoint! We went to see Wicked down at the Civic Theatre downtown. We scored some pretty good seats on the first level Dress Circle and waited anxiously for the show to start. The entire time during the show I had a smile on my face. The costumes were awesome, the songs were inspiring and uplifting, and we had a really really good time!
The card on the right is the one I gave to Whitney!!!

Here’s some random shots throughout our four years in no particular order!

Anyway, thank you to Whitney for putting up with me for four years and being the most caring, compassionate, supportive, understanding, and loving woman I know! Cheers to many more years!
