David Manning Photographers Bloggin bio picture

Welcome to dmp bloggin!

I'm a big believer in living life to it's fullest and for the most part, you'll find a smile on my face!  That's the short story about me.  The long story includes a passion for photography, playing my guitar, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, hockey, mountain biking, skydiving and more!

I like good coffee in the morning, and good wine at night.  Cooking combines three of my favorite things, creativity, food, and friends. So you can often times find me in the kitchen making an Italian family recipe.  You're welcome at my house anytime!  Just bring a smile, an appetite, and if you want to score big points, a bottle of red wine!  (Oh, and don't be afraid to have your picture taken.  If you're here, it's bound to happen!)

All of these activities are amazing, but they would not be nearly as fun or possible at all if it weren't for God, my family, and my friends.  These three are the most important to me, and I cannot thank them enough for supporting me on this amazing journey!

PUERTO RICO :: DAY 2

My deepest apologies for not getting Day 2 up faster! We’ve been busy down here in Puerto Rico. Ya know, snorkeling, drinking Pina Coladas, cruisin’ the hotel casino ;) So here’s the recap from Day 2 down here, otherwise known as Thursday.

Sara and I had not gotten used to the time difference yet (and still haven’t), so we woke up around 11:00 am, got ready and connected with an awesome photographer here in Puerto Rico, Gabriel Gonzalez. Him and his wife Sheynel, came to pick us up at our hotel after we found out that not a single rental car was available in San Juan! I guess, it’s a holiday weekend down here, but still, not a single car?!

So being awesome and amazing, Gabriel and Sheynel took us out to Pinones, which totally reminded me of Ensenada, Mexico beach style. We ate at this really cool spot called Solell and it was soooo delish! Thanks to Gabriel for this photo!

Ordering a Corona and lime made me feel like I had officially landed in Puerto Rico!

Lime self-portrait?

So this is mofongo, which is this insanely good Puerto Rican dish that everyone talks about on the island so I had to have it.

So… yeah… Gabriel’s photo came out a little better that trying to hold my fatty camera up with one hand…

Uh, yeah, you’re so jealous right now. This pic literally could have been taken at about a dozen spots I walked past. It was gorgeous EVERYWHERE!!!

Sara shot this one of me shooting the next one. Confused? C’mon, you can figure it out.

Sara captured the instant deep love that developed between Gabriel and I! Hahahaha!!!!

This is literally the face I make when I shoot! No, I’m kidding… but seriously…

Sara France posing with an insane background. (I think secretly she’s a pirate. C’mon, put a bead in her hair and a red bandana on her head and she’s Jack Sparrow!)

Okay, so Sara and I tried to get Sheynel and Gabriel to pose for us, but someone was a little shy. I won’t mention any names *cough cough* Sheynel ;) I did catch her smitten look at her hubby in this shot though. For a hilarious two shot of these two and Sheynel’s shyness, check out Sara’s blog!

Okay, it’s me that secretly wants to be a Pirate!

Sara was bad, so she had to go to prison. But she’s Sara France, so she goes to Pink Prison.

I was so excited about these next two!

I WANT TO BE THERE!!! Wait, I am there. There is here. I’M HERE!

Gabriel saw how excited I was about the leaf so he pointed out a few lone coconuts hanging out in the sand. This one was my favorite. “I want to be a tree, I want to be a tree!” Pretty sure that’s what this coconut was saying.

After showing us Pinones, they dropped us off in Old San Juan for the rehearsal dinner. Couldn’t help but shoot the sweet streets again.

Another quick stop at Ben & Jerry’s and a little shameless self promotion! Although, c’mon, you’re already on my blog. My logo is to be expected here. Don’t judge me!!!

And for some more street action/the money shot. I leave you with this!

So, Friday was Day 3 and was Wedding Day, and today was Day 4, Fashion Shoot day. Both were amazing, incredible, and any other synonyms of those words. Obviously, I can’t blog those days, but I might throw up a few self-portrait shots that Sara and I took along the way.

Tomorrow though, Gabriel and Sheynel are picking us up again to show us the inner parts of the island. So excited! Then Monday, we’re renting a car and going to the East side of the island to make the 2 or 3 hour hike to the top of El Yunque (said el joonk-ay), which is a RAINFOREST!!! I’m super stoked, although people keep telling us about trying to not get lost because people go for days without being found and have to eat snails. I’m not a fan. BUT, after we summit the rain forest and take a million pictures, were going to head for the East coast of the island to kayak at night through the bioluminescent bays of Fajardo. Yeah, you kayak at night and as you do the water lights up around you! How flippin cool is that?!!! Anyway, more pictures to come, stay tuned!
